On a dark stage, a group of 12 dancers are dancing in a circle around a large eye-level chandelier. They are standing, almost leaning back, and have their hands up in the air.
Steeped in a ballet tradition that dates to the court of Louis XIV, the dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet meet the visceral and emotive choreography of London-based choreographer Hofesh Shechter in the North American premiere of a new evening-length work. Shechter creates vivid, urgent cinematic tableaus in his works, and his new creation has been envisioned especially for the Paris Opera Ballet.
