BOT — Placenta: Bridge of Bot (Presented by EastSide Arts Alliance)

  • Eastside Cultural Center 2277 International Blvd Oakland CA United States (map)

"EastSide Arts Alliance/LAIR, Puri Arts, Asian Refugees United and Asian Prisoner Support Committee Present: BOT - PLACENTA: Bridge of BOT: Ritual for Belonging by ARU+APSC Storytellers, Puri Arts - SamsukUlim (Ritual drummers). EastSide Cultural Center 2277 International Blvd Oakland, CA" Beside text are a group of dancers spotlit on a dark stage, hands raised up forming a tent made of bodies.

For years, ARU-CRE Storytellers have explored these connections alongside beloved communities, including people connected with the Asian Prisoner Support Committee at San Quentin State Prison.

Together, we weave stories of grief, injustice, resilience, reunion, and healing. These placental threads connect ancestral memory with the present, nurturing hope and belonging for future generations.

Through our placentas, we connect with ancestral lands, carrying their stories across borders and generations. Far from home, we explore how our roots shape our sense of belonging.
